Social distancing while closing the gap between me and God.

Today I want to share with you a sound I heard yesterday.  Whenever there is a breeze a bell, which hangs nearby, reverberates a beautiful but lonely sound similar to that of a lonely ship at sea.  The deep bass like call rings quietly but distinctly.  Higher winds make it ring faster and louder.  The sound is both eerie and calming at the same time. Given our situation I thought it helpful to think of Jesus as this bell in the midst of our whirlwind.  We are in unprecedented and uncharted waters, but we should not be afraid.  With Christ as our guide, we rely on common sense while listening for His guidance.  When we have to decide whether or not to leave our home God will help us make those decisions.  When we worry about the future hear Him say that He is close by...as close as the sound of the bell. Listen for the echoing sound of Jesus' words today, found in Matthew 28:20, "And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." and in John 3:8 "The wind blows where it chooses, and you hear the sound of it, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.” Be assured through Christ's dying and resurrecting love that you are not alone.  No matter the tumultuous days ahead, remember you are born of the Spirit. This seclusion might be eerie but can also be reassuring.  Take this time to elucidate the calming affect such isolation brings...and listen ...
